What is a medical coder?

Medical coders review healthcare documentation and translate diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes used for billing, insurance claims, records, and compliance.

What coders do

A medical coder helps turn patient care information into the codes that healthcare offices, hospitals, and insurance systems use every day. Accuracy matters because those codes affect billing, documentation, and reimbursement.

FAQ

Answers before you commit.

Straightforward details for students who want a clear plan, realistic expectations, and serious exam preparation.

How often does class meet?

The program runs for 12 weeks and meets once a week for 3 hours. It is designed for adults who need a schedule they can realistically stick with.

What certification is this program designed to help me prepare for?

The course is designed to help students prepare for the CPC certification, which is one of the most recognized medical coding certifications. Kathy can also recommend where students can take the exam.

Do I need to buy books?

Yes. Books are required and are purchased separately. Students need the current-year coding books because the certification exam uses the current books, and the course is built around learning how to use them correctly.

Do I need prior healthcare experience?

No. This training is meant to help beginners learn the fundamentals clearly and build confidence step by step.

Is this live or self-paced?

This is a live online training program taught through Google Meet. Students can ask questions during training, and Kathy may also answer questions after class depending on availability.

Do you provide practice tests?

Yes. Kathy usually provides mock testing near the end of the program so students can better measure their readiness before taking the certification exam.

What is the certification exam like?

The exam is typically multiple choice and includes 100 questions. A score of 70 is considered passing. The course helps students get familiar with the books and the exam format instead of relying on memorization alone.

When should I take the certification exam?

Kathy recommends taking the exam as soon as you are ready, ideally within a short period after training, so the material is still fresh and you are still comfortable using the books.

Are refunds available?

No. The program has a no refund policy. However, students may be allowed to rejoin training again. You can confirm details before enrolling.

Will this guarantee certification or a job?

No. This program is designed to help you prepare for certification and build real coding knowledge, but certification, passing scores, and employment are not guaranteed.
